Barber County 4-H Crops Team Wins State Contest

The team of Carson Cargill, Keaton Wiske, and Bryce Duvall participated in the virtual State Crops Contest in November. Normally this contest is held during the Kansas State Fair, but due to COVID-19, the contest was moved to November and changed to a virtual format.

Citizenship in Action

Citizenship in Action will be a virtual event in 2021. Plans are being made for programming on February 14 and 15.

Club Day

Moved to April.

On December 4th, K-State Research and Extension began requiring any programs that could be conducted as virtual to be done without face to face interaction.  This direction extends through March 31.  To have a face to face meeting for any Extension Program (including 4-H), we must recieve approval from the Extension Director.

Junior Producer Days

This year the junior producer days will be hosted virtually as week-long educational series. A few sessions will be presented on week-night evenings, with the program wrapping up on Saturday morning. Junior Swine Producer Week is scheduled for February 15-20, 2021. The Junior Meat Goat Producer Week is slated for March 15-20, 2021.

Scholarships

Barber County 4-H Foundation Scholarship is due March 1, 2021.

State Horse Quiz Bowl & Hippology

Due to Rock Spring’s current closure, the Horse Panorama will not be held in January. Instead, the Horse Action Team will host Hippology, Public Speaking, Demonstrations/Talks, Photography, Logo, Poster, PowerPoint, Ad Layout, and Model Horse Show virtually in 2021. The exact dates are yet to be determined.

Tagging Deadlines

Tagging Deadlines are the time the animal must be tagged by.  Watch upcoming newsletters for details on making these arrangements with Justin for 2021.
