Barber County

*EDITED 3-12-21*  4-H Camp at Rock Springs

Happy trails, Campers!  It's that time of the year!  Camp is scheduled for June 21-24, 2021.  Everybody will get to do archery, canoes, horses, and other fun camp activities.  All campers will receive a t-shirt.

Camp in 2021 will be different.  Currently, camp is being limited to 144 campers.  This is 45% of our 5 year average, Barber County will only be able to take 5 kids to 4-H Camp.  Camp is also limted to those 4-H members completing the 3rd through 8th grades this spring.  We will form a waiting list after the first 5 camper forms are received.  If the number is increased, or other counties can not fill their slots, we will let the people on the waitlist know.

This means we will only need 48 counselors.  If you are intersted in couseling, please complete the applcation below as soon as possible.

Camp will cost $220 for each Barber County Camper.  This include $210 for Rock Springs Fees and $10 to help with transportation costs.  Because of the reduced camp numbers, we will not be taking a bus to camp.  Parents may be needed to help transport kids to and from camp.  Details will be known sometime in May.

In accordance with the current guidelines for Dickinson County (location of Rock Springs Ranch) and Kansas 4-H, masks will be required at 4-H Camp at all times except swimming, eating, and while in the housing rooms.  Additionally, group activities will be limited to 50 members.  This means that the tradional talent show and all group dance will be replaced with other activities.

Remember the Barber County 4-H Foundation offers $50 camp scholarships, paid after you attend camp. To apply all you have to do is write a letter about why you want to go to 4-H Camp and turn it in with your camp form.

A PDF Camp form can be found below.  They are due into the office before May 1, with a $100 deposit.  The remaining $120 will be due June 1st.

Camp Counselor Applications link can also be found below.  They are due on April 15th. Counselors do not have to pay for camp, but they are getting an experience of a lifetime.  Their fees ($230) are paid by 4-H Council.  If you sign up to be a counselor and then cancel, you will be responsible for this fee.
